Launch of ENOUGH Campaign Against Malnutrition and Hunger by World Vision Central African Republic
Friday 21 June 2024 will be remembered as an important day in the history of the Central African Republic, marking the launch of the ENOUGH campaign against malnutrition and hunger. The official ceremony, which took place at the Ledger Plazza Hotel, brought together prominent personalities including the First Lady, Mrs Brigitte Touadera, and the Minister for Gender Promotion, Protection of Women, Family and Children, Dr Marthe Augustin KIRIMAT, the Regional Director of World Vision West and Central Africa, Mrs Carla Denizard, the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, Resident Humanitarian Coordinator, as well as representatives of international organisations such as UNICEF, WFP, IRC, Plan International and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
During this remarkable event, the First Lady shared inspiring reflections on the importance of collective action against malnutrition and hunger, highlighting the disproportionate impact these challenges have on our communities. Her presence and support inspired renewed hope and underscored the need to act with determination in this noble mission.
World Vision's Regional Director for West and Central Africa also delivered an insightful speech. Carla Denizard highlighted the alarming levels of child malnutrition in the Central African Republic. She reaffirmed World Vision's global commitment to mobilise resources and fight child hunger and malnutrition. Her speech shed light on the clear goals set for the national campaign to reach 5 million people in CAR, including 2.4 million children, through concrete programmes and a strong partnership. Furthermore, during this remarkable ceremony, Arielle, the children's representative, also delivered a powerful speech, emphasizing the critical importance of nutrition for the health and development of children in the Central African Republic. She shared alarming statistics and called for increased support to ensure children's right to healthy and nutritious food, in accordance with the Child Protection Code in the Central African Republic. The shared vision at this ceremony underscored a firm commitment to a future where every child in the Central African Republic has access to adequate nutrition for their full development. Partnerships and collective involvement were highlighted as essential pillars to ensure the success of this noble cause.The ENOUGH campaign represents a decisive step towards a better future for the children and families of the Central African Republic, emphasizing the need for concrete action, investment, and harmonious coordination.
