Djawahir’s Journey: Clean Water, New Hope

Monday, March 24, 2025

Djawahir Moustapha, from the Songo neighborhood in Birao, Central African Republic (CAR), once endured a perilous 1km journey for water. The trek exposed her to robbers, snakes, and, for girls, the threat of violence. Water from wells and forests carried diseases—scabies, typhoid, diarrhea—plaguing her community. World Vision changed that by installing a borehole nearby. “Now we wash, go to school refreshed, and live without sickness,” Djawahir says, her heart full of joy. Clean water has turned a daily burden into a source of happiness.
