Enhancing Communities' Ability to Adapt and Face Shocks, Crises, and Climatic Changes in Hatra, Ninewa

Monday, October 28, 2024

In recent years, the people of Hatra have been severely impacted by climate change, with the region facing persistent droughts. Each year, fires break out in the wheat fields, further devastating the community's resources. To address these challenges, World Vision Iraq, with funding from ADH, intervened in Hatra, Ninewa, to support disaster risk mitigation efforts.

We established a disaster risk reduction committee, trained 10 community disaster management committees, and provided specialized training to 50 women and 75 farmers on firefighting techniques and first aid. These activities are part of a broader initiative to equip the youth and residents of Hatra with proactive skills to mitigate crises and reduce the impact of disasters in the region.
