Indika Gunawardana
Indika Gunawardana is the Regional WASH Advisor for South Asia and Pacific. Indika is a water sector professional from Sri Lanka who has served in several NGOs and UN agencies at various levels over the past 10 years. Before joining the regional office, she managed WASH sector programmes in World Vision Lanka for 3.5 years. While there, she built partnerships which resulted in collaborative initiatives and knowledge sharing that improved WV WASH’s positioning within the country.
Indika completed her basic degree in Agriculture, specialised in Agricultural Engineering, and obtained her MSc. and PhD in Integrated Water Resources Management at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Her research and publications focused on sustainable sanitation. Then she served at Cap-Net UNDP employed by UNOPS for 7 years while based in South Africa and Brazil. She also worked for the Global Water Partnership just before joining World Vision Lanka.
Indika is a compassionate leader who is motivated by development work and life transformation of people. She is married to Asanka and a mother of two boys (Yasiru and Yashiv), and she enjoys travelling and learning from new cultures. Indika and her family live in Colombo, Sri Lanka and worship at Cornerstone Community Church.
