Alexander Pandian
Alexander Pandian is the Regional WASH Advisor for East Asia. Before joining the region, Alexander was the National Program Manager for WASH initiatives in India. Alexander was instrumental in overseeing WASH, gender and emergency initiatives for WV India for 14 years, including designing and leading comprehensive country-wide programmes, conducting research, and spearheading innovative projects. Alexander represented WV in nationwide Sphere training for WASH and played a key role in emergency WASH planning and implementation.
In his earlier positions, he played a crucial role in supporting and representing India in WASH policy planning with the government's Water and Sanitation Ministry. Alexander has hands-on experience in designing and implementing WASH systems with a market and beneficiary focus. He has also led and supported research in habit formation, designing behaviour change strategies for WASH and Urban WASH, in coordination with reputable academic institutions.
Alexander holds two master's degrees in International Business and Social Work from India, along with a graduate degree in International WASH from the Desert Research Institute (DRI) in Reno, US. He resides in India with his wife, Fiona, and their two sons, Benjamin and Caleb.
