Ray Norman
Ray Norman is the Global WASH Director for World Vision International. He has been in this role since 2019, providing leadership and direction for World Vision’s WASH sector. He also provides leadership to the Global Programmes & Resources WASH Team which serves to define World Vision’s global WASH sector approach. This includes ensuring technical standards and practices of WASH programmes that deliver impact and contribution to the sustained well-being of children and communities through evidenced-based approaches.
Ray has worked for 25+ years in international development, in both research and programme management capacities in agricultural water management and WASH. In addition to various roles in World Vision, he has served with Cornell University, Winrock International, Sultan Qaboos University (Oman) and the African Development Bank; as well as a consultant to the U.S. Agency for International Development, the World Bank, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, and various other international NGOs. He also served as Dean of the School of Science, Engineering and Health at Messiah University (US) for 12 years, where he maintains an appointment as Scholar-in-Residence. Ray holds a PhD in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from Cornell University.
Ray is married to Hélène (a French national) and has two grown children, Nathaniel and Hannah. He holds dual citizenship in the US and France, and divides his time between Tennessee (US) and Calais, France. He and his wife are active in the faith community of Cookson Creek Baptist Church in Ocoee, Tennessee.
