World Vision Deep Dive Office Meeting : Driving Global Change through the Enough Campaign
The recent Deep Dive Enough Advocacy Forum held in Lilongwe from 9-13 July 2024, underscored the imperative of pursuing policy change to bolster investment in food production and address key issues affecting vulnerable communities.
Edith Nyambicha, World Vision’s Local Advocacy Advisor, stresses the urgency for countries with high rates of child wasting to demonstrate policy and financial commitments to prevention, detection, and treatment. In line with Sustainable Development Goal number 2, which calls for zero hunger, this endeavor seeks to make meaningful strides in the fight against malnutrition and hunger.Building on the momentum from the last year's launch of the Enough Campaign in the United States of America on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, World Vision International, alongside its partners, is working fervently towards the goal of eradicating child hunger and malnutrition. The President of Malawi, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, played a pivotal role as a keynote speaker, emphasizing the campaign's significance.
The Deep Dive Enough Campaign Forum in Lilongwe has become an important platform for fostering dialogue on empowering marginalised communities to achieve food security. As proud representatives of the Central African Republic (CAR), we at the CAR office are deeply honoured to be part of this transformative journey. By actively advocating for key policy changes to drive investment in food production, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to sustainable change. This deliberation stands as a testament to our collective determination to make a tangible, far-reaching impact in the pursuit of sustainable food security. Together, with our esteemed colleagues from Tanzania, Malawi, Mexico, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan, we are determined to foster enduring change and resilience.
In the midst of these important conversations, our commitment to a world where every community has the opportunity to thrive remains unwavering. We stand united, painting a compelling narrative of hope and transformation that transcends borders to cultivate a nourished and empowered future for all.
Alexandre Amadou Gassama, Advocacy, Campaign and Communication Lead for World Vision Central African Republic, had the privilege of participate in the Deep Dive Enough Campaign Forum, an enriching experience. In particular, the work undertaken by the CAR office received remarkable attention, leading to requests from other offices for a peer-to-peer learning exchange. Our collaborative approach to bringing children and authorities together for the Enough campaign has generated interest and recognition.Participants from Central African Republic, Mexico, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, and Malawi took the opportunity to share their campaign plans aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as their policy briefs. This exchange provided valuable insights to strengthen their programmes and achieve their intended goals. It also enabled positioning of their respective countries to secure additional resources and support from the United States in the fight against malnutrition and hunger.Advocating for policy change is at the heart of our discussions. It is noteworthy that of the 64 World Vision offices worldwide, only 6, including the CAR office, are part of this powerful initiative. We are deeply grateful for this enriching experience, which continues to fuel our unwavering commitment to creating a more nourished and empowered future.
