Community-led Nutrition Project Transforms Lives in Mudzi District
Monica Kamupaike, a mother of three in Ranja village, Mudzi district, faces food insecurity and relies on limited income sources. Her youngest daughter, Anisha, became moderately malnourished due to the family's struggles. However, hope arrived through the USAID-BHA funded PRONE project implemented by World Vision Zimbabwe, Musasa, and the Government of Zimbabwe. Monica learned about the project through a Community Health Worker and enrolled Anisha in PD Hearth sessions. Mothers joined forces, preparing and feeding their children nutritious porridge using locally available ingredients. The sessions, accompanied by behavior change messages, led to significant improvements in Anisha's health. Monica expressed her joy and commitment to continuing the sessions and applying what she learned at home, emphasizing the support and resource-sharing within the group. The project showcases the transformative impact of community-led initiatives in addressing child malnutrition in vulnerable areas.
