Positive Deviance Hearth Innovation in Viet Nam
Download
World Vision implemented an innovative and holistic approach to tackling child malnutrition in Viet Nam’s highlands, where food insecurity and limited caregiver knowledge persist. By integrating the Positive Deviance/Hearth (PDH) model with livelihoods support and caregiver empowerment, the PDH+ innovation seeks to address both behavioural and structural barriers to improved child nutrition. The programme has shown promising results in increasing graduation rates, though challenges such as low caregiver participation in livelihood activities remain. The approach emphasises cross-sector collaboration, local capacity building, and resource mobilisation for lasting impact.
